Art of Protest with New Wave Creatives
Art of Protest with New Wave Creatives
In this inspiring session at @Jelly, an arts charity in Reading, I had the pleasure of working with the brilliant New Wave Creatives. It was a joy to share my journey through protest art, including past visual work rooted in activism, from climate justice to squatting movements.
Together, we explored the rich legacy of protest art to spark our own creative voices. Using collage, monoprinting, and archival imagery from movements like Extinction Rebellion, we brought bold messages to life. Our discussions spanned from the role of propaganda to the ongoing struggle of the Palestinian people, deep, powerful conversations that shaped our artwork.
Huge thanks to you, beautiful and thought-provoking creations. What an incredible session!

Fruit, Munch and Draw New Wave Creatives Networking
During this session, we held a meet and greet for all the New Wave Creatives in collaboration with Jelly Reading, an arts charity based in Reading. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming as we connected over shared interests, enjoyed the displayed fruit—which also served as inspiration for our art—and experimented with a variety of materials.
Together, we explored ideas for the future direction of the group, including opportunities for exhibiting our work, accessing studio spaces, and building meaningful connections within the local creative community

Art Therapy Animation Workshop
Art Therapy Animation Workshop
In our art therapy workshop with New Wave Creative, in collaboration with Jelly arts charity in Reading, we explored the expressive power of stop-frame animation. Through hands-on, creative play, we learned how art therapy can support emotional wellbeing—transforming our thoughts and feelings into visual stories. Using a wide variety of materials, we brought our inner worlds to life, frame by frame, capturing emotions in motion through the magic of animation.

Values Animation
Values Animation
TThis was such a fun project to develop! I designed an animation workshop where we explored the school’s core values through creative play. The children began by designing their own fonts, using primary colours as a foundation. They then brought their designs to life with plasticine, thinking inventively about how to shape each letter.
Once their fonts were complete, it was time to animate. Using a stop-motion animation app on iPads, each child developed a unique approach to bringing their letters to life. It was a joy to watch their creations come alive through the animation process.
To complete the project, the children recorded short voice snippets to share their understanding of the school values. The final animated video beautifully captured their creativity, individuality, and the principles at the heart of their school community.

Game Changers Fundraiser
Game Changers Fundraiser
I took part in a fun fundraising event in London for a democratic school in East London, where children are empowered to choose their own learning paths. As part of the event, I led a printmaking workshop designed to engage both children and families.
Using brightly coloured paper, glitter, and styrofoam tiles, participants explored the creative process of printmaking. The atmosphere was lively and joyful, with children fully engaged and excited to experiment with the materials. It was a wonderful opportunity to combine creativity, community, and support for a school built on child-led learning.

Growing Soldarity Fun Raiser @Hempen
Growing Soldarity Fun Raiser @Hempen
I took part in a collaborative painting session with children and families at Hempen during a fundraiser for Growing Solidarity, a community growing initiative. The organisation supports marginalised communities in Reading by bringing food-growing activities into homes and creating safe, restorative spaces for holistic practices in the Oxfordshire countryside.
Working alongside an artist, we invited participants to paint on canvases with the unique twist that, after a short time, each person had to move on to a new canvas. This encouraged collaboration and spontaneity, resulting in a vibrant, collective artwork that reflected the spirit of community and shared creativity.

Growing Solidarity Community Art
Growing Solidarity Community Art
These paintings were created at the Hempen space in collaboration with members of the Growing Solidarity community. Using acrylic paints, we worked on off-cuts of wood, drawing inspiration from the tranquil surroundings of Hempen. Each piece was then assembled into a vibrant sign for the children’s garden, celebrating the diversity of the Growing Solidarity group, from young to old, and all the experiences in between.

Growing Solidarity
This animation was created in collaboration with the Growing Solidarity community at Hempen Organic. I travelled around Reading to visit members of the community, many of whom come from marginalised backgrounds, and together we created portraits using acrylic paint. The project aimed to celebrate each individual and honour the diversity within the group. In the animation, a tree grows in the background, symbolising a space where people of all ages and experiences come together to find sanctuary in the peaceful surroundings of the countryside.
School Values Art Club
During the autumn term of 2021, we explored a variety of art mediums to create an animation inspired by our whole school values.
We began by using mod roc and cardboard to construct the initials of our names for the covers of our sketchbooks. The children experimented with complementary colour scheme (such as yellow and purple) to paint their covers, developing an understanding of colour theory.
We then studied the work of artist Keith Haring, using his bold, graphic style to create black-and-white illustrations that reflected our school values. To add further depth to the animation, the children explored printmaking techniques using foam boards to create prints of their class tree leaves.
As a final element, we sculpted letters from clay and used them in stop-motion animation to bring our school values to life. The project gave the children a hands-on opportunity to engage with a range of materials and artistic processes while reinforcing the values at the heart of our school community.

There was a lot to cover over the five weeks, but the results of our hard work are clearly reflected in the final animation, inspired by the artist Keith Haring. I’m particularly proud of this piece for its striking black-and-white aesthetic and the expressive line drawings that beautifully echo Haring’s iconic style.

Digital Art Workshop
Digital Art Workshop
During my placement at a secondary school, I led a digital art workshop for gifted and talented students in Years 6 and 7 from the Wokingham Borough. The workshop focused on the theme of a greener future, drawing inspiration from climate campaigns as well as my own artistic practice. We also explored personal identity, encouraging students to illustrate images and objects that reflected who they are.
The students began by creating their illustrations on paper, which were then scanned and edited using Photoshop. Their final works are bright, vibrant, and full of energy. I was particularly impressed by their bold use of symbolism to express their views on climate change and their individual identities.
