School Mural
This colourful mural was inspired by minibeasts and aimed to bring nature to the entrance of the school where I was working. During the second lockdown, I began the project by cutting minibeast shapes from MDF panels, carefully painting and varnishing them to make them suitable for outdoor display.
The school wanted to incorporate recycled materials, so an SOS call was sent out to parents to collect unwanted plastic bottles. Over the course of six weeks, a group of children helped cut the bottles into flower shapes, which were then brightly coloured using spray paint. The children loved experimenting with the spray cans, and their enthusiasm brought great energy to the project.
The result is a vibrant, mixed-media mural that is both engaging and welcoming. It celebrates creativity, sustainability, and community at the heart of the school.

School Library Mural
School Library Mural
At a school where I previously worked, I was involved in the refurbishment of the Key Stage 1 library. The theme was “Lost in the Woods with a Book,” and one of the walls needed some mural magic. Working with a group of children, we transformed the space into an enchanted forest.
As part of the project, the children learned various painting techniques, including how to carefully blend colours and paint clean edges where different shades met. Each child then selected their favourite children’s book author and recreated an illustration in the style of that author, using pastels as the medium. Their vibrant drawings were framed and incorporated into the mural, adding a personal and creative touch that brought the forest and the library to life.

School Playground Mural Tanzania
School Playground Mural Tanzania
During my time as a teacher in Tanzania, I collaborated on a mural project inspired by the nearby Serengeti, with the Big Five animals as the central theme. Working alongside another teacher, we developed a design influenced by Tinga Tinga art, a vibrant and distinctive style that originated in Tanzania.
The wall was large and expansive, and we used gloss paint to bring the mural to life with bold colours and playful patterns. The result was a bright, joyful artwork that brought colour and vibrancy to the school playground. The children were thrilled with their new mural, which became a lively and inspiring feature of their daily environment.

RISC Food for Families Dingley Centre
In 2012, I collaborated with a community initiative in Reading called Food 4 Families, which focuses on developing gardens to encourage organisations to engage young people in growing and learning about food. At the time, the project was landscaping a garden at a children's centre for young people with educational needs. My role involved designing and creating multi-sensory murals that would be both engaging and accessible. To meet the children's needs, I used recycled materials and incorporated mosaic techniques, ensuring the artwork was tactile, visually stimulating, and environmentally conscious.

Floating Compost Mural Proynos Peru
Floating Compost Mural Proynos Peru
This mural was painted on a floating compost toilet centre in Iquitos, Peru, as part of a project developed by the NGO Proynos. The centre served as a hub where local residents brought their compost waste, and it marked the beginning of a wider initiative to move from shared community toilets to providing individual compost toilets for families. As part of the program, each household was invited to select the colours and designs for their personal toilets, making the project both practical and uniquely personal.
The mural was designed in collaboration with the local community to celebrate life along the river and reflect the vibrant identity of the people living there. Additional walls were painted by local young people from the neighbourhood, who contributed their own ideas and artistic expressions. Together, these murals represent a shared sense of pride, creativity, and community—capturing the spirit of the initiative led by Proynos to improve sanitation in a sustainable and culturally respectful way.

Hackney City Farm
Hackney City Farm
TIn 2009, I volunteered with the community project Hackney City Farm. The farm provides local residents and inner-city children with opportunities to engage with farm animals and learn about rural life. It also offers workshops in pottery and has initiated innovative projects such as building a straw bale house, which focused on sustainable construction and skill-sharing.
I was initially drawn to the farm by my interest in gardening and community-building. Over time, I began exploring ways to integrate my artistic skills and proposed creating a mural for the farm’s outdoor classroom. My goal was to bring vibrant, global-inspired colors to the space while celebrating the farm animals and gardening activities that make the farm such a valuable resource for the community.

Art Therapy Charity Mural
Art Therapy Charity Mural
This mural, located in an art therapy space in Hackney, London, was an opportunity I was invited to contribute to by painting the entrance walls with complete creative freedom. Inspired by Jean-Michel Basquiat's iconic style, I incorporated his expressive marks and visual language into the mural. At the same time, I recreated one of my own illustrations, a depiction of my mixed heritage, where I unravel my skin to reveal the deep oneness we share with nature.
I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, feeling free to explore and express myself. This project beautifully reflects my current journey as an MA student in art psychotherapy, merging creativity with personal and cultural exploration.
